Who we are
About Elliot J. Rattner
I founded Northwatch Legal with a simple but unwavering purpose: to protect and stand watch for those whose voices too often go unheard.
As a Navy veteran with over twelve years of service, first as an enlisted Arabic linguist and later as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) Officer, I’ve dedicated my career to defending individuals and institutions in complex legal matters. My experience spans criminal justice, estate planning, limited scope legal services, civil rights, and social justice work, all grounded in a deep commitment to fairness and accountability.
In 2022, I was honored with the Public Service Award from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law for my work investigating constitutional violations and police misconduct, as well as examining the limitations of hate crime statutes in preventing bias-motivated violence. That commitment to integrity, advocacy, and compassion continues to guide my practice today.
At Northwatch Legal, I bring that same sense of duty to every client I serve. Whether navigating criminal or civil litigation, advising on policy, or providing guidance in moments of crisis, I believe every person deserves steadfast representation and a clear path forward.
Of note: I pride myself on being a safe and affirming space for LGBTQIA+ clients. As a member of this vibrant and diverse community myself, I understand firsthand how essential fearless, zealous advocacy is — even for issues others take for granted.
Rooted in the values of service, vigilance, and justice, Northwatch Legal is built to protect the freedoms and communities we all depend on, because in every fight for what’s right, someone must stand watch.
